Coach Daniel Cruz is the Lions Head Powerlifting coach and football coach.  Coach Cruz teaches Principles of Law and US History at Ozona High School.  


Coach Cruz graduated from Ozona High where he was a member of the football team as a lineman and defensive end, baksetbal team, and track team. Coach Cruz threw the shotput for the Lions.  He attended Howard College and Angelo State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Border Security Studies with a minor in Spanish.  His favorite class in college was English.  While at ASU, Coach Cruz was a member of the honor society Phi Theta Kappa and received the USA Today All-Academic award.  Coach Cruz was awarded the Coca-Cola Full Ride Scholarship to attend Angelo State University.


Coach Cruz is a member of our military as he served in the Unites States Army for 5 years active duty and 3 years inactive duty .  He was deployed to the Iraqi War Theater where he was a member of the armoured battalion and worked as a mechanic on tanks and military vehicles.  One of his most vivid memories as an Iraqi war veteran is the 150 degree heat he had to endure.  


He is married to Erica and together they have three children:  Ethan, Hannah, and Ryleigh.


Coach Cruz enjoys fishing and camping, watching football and baseball during his spare time.
