SEVENTH GRADE LIONS BLITZ JUNCTION

The Junction Eagles came to town and were mauled by the hosting Seventh Grade Lions on Sept. 26. The Lions blitzed to a 54-0 win. The scoring began on the second play from scrimmage on a 40-yard run by Michael Daniels with the two-point conversion good by Kurt Bean for an 8-0 lead. Daniels picked off an errant Eagle pass and after a short return set up the offense for a short trip to pay dirt. The first play of the possession resulted in a five-yard touchdown run by Bean with the two-point conversion run by Ryan Hurst good for a 16-0 Lion lead. The next Eagle possession resulted in a Lion score on a recovered fumble in the end zone by Hurst with the two-point conversion pass to Hudson Fowler good for a 24-0 Lion lead. The Lions scored again on a 25-yard Bean run on their first possession in the second quarter with Hurst scoring the two-point conversion for a 32-0 score. The Eagle offense was pinned on their goal line by Fowler and Leo Rodriquez who made outstanding defensive plays. On the Eagle punt Hurst picked up the punt and returned it for a touchdown, with the two-point conversion good from Fowler. That brought the score to 40-0 and halftime. The second half began with the Lions kicking off and playing defense until a Daniels’ interception. The next Lion score came in the fourth quarter on a Fowler 48-yard scamper with an unsuccessful two-point conversion to extended the Lions lead 46-0. The final score came on a Hurst strip and return for 40 yards for a touchdown with the final two-point conversion by Corey Galindo for the final score 54-0. Defensively the Lions were led by Rodriquez, Fowler and Hurst making many fine plays. “It was an outstanding performance by the Lions on both defense and offense,” said Coaches Rhonnie Lester and Daniel Cruz.
