OHS Cross-Country gears up for district at Sonora

OHS CROSS-COUNTRY GEARS UP FOR DISTRICT AT SONORA

The OHS Cross-Country Team competed in the Sonora Bronco Invitational on Oct. 7. The Lions finished second as a team. Team Standings: 1. Ballinger; 2. Ozona; 3. Brady; 4. Sonora; 5. Wall; 6. Reagan County; 7. Cornerstone Christian. Humberto Torralba was second at 17 minutes, 26 seconds. Manuel Torralba was third at 17:32.94. Jason Lopez was 17th at 18:43.40 and Adam Hopper was 21st at 18:59. Also running was: 24. Camron Perez, 19:05 and 25. Bryce Gray, 19:11. The Lady Lions finished seventh. Team Standings: 1. Wall; 2. Brady; 3. Ballinger; 4. Sonora; 5. Cornerstone Christian; 6. Grape Creek; 7. Ozona and 8. Reagan County. Kenzee Talamantez finished second at 12:30. Also running for the Lady Lions: 36. Krysten Webb, 15:18; 40. Alondra Hernandez, 15:54; 45. Charli Oglesby, 16:33 and 46. Jacque Medina, 16:36. In the JV Division, the Lions won the meet. Melvyn Mejia won the meet at 19:49 and Daniel Hernandez was second at 19:52. Arturo Guerra was fourth at 20:25, Julian Dominguez seventh at 20:36 and Hermin Villegas 17th at 23:04. “Almost every high school runner ran their personal best time for the season. It was a good, small meet to help stimulate what we will need to do in order to compete at an even smaller district meet. Our kids are healthy and our focus now is fresh legs and a positive mindset as we enter the championship phase of our season,” said Coach Jeff Shelton. The teams will compete at the District 7-AA Cross-Country meet today, Oct. 16, at the north entrance of San Angelo State Park in San Angelo. Races start at 9 a.m. with Varsity Girls, followed by Varsity Boys, JV Girls and JV Boys.
