Lions, Talamantez advance to UIL State Cross-Country Meet

LIONS, TALAMANTEZ ADVANCE TO UIL STATE CROSS-COUNTRY MEET

LUBBOCK – The OHS Lions and Lady Lion Kenzee Talamantez all advanced to the UIL State Cross-Country Meet Monday after competing at the Region I Championships. The Lions finished second as a team behind Sundown. Panhandle and Fort Hancock also advanced placing third and fourth respectively. Humberto Torralba was second overall as an individual with a time of 16 minutes, 54.60 seconds. Manuel Torralba was fourth at 17:11.60. Jason Lopez was 16th with 17:59, Adam Hopper was 24th at 18:30.60, Camron Perez was 38th at 18:50.30, Melvyn Mejia was 53rd at 19:23.30 and Daniel Hernandez was 60th at 19:31.80. Lady Lion Kenzee Talamantez punched her ticket to state after finishing 16th with a time of 12:53.70. The runners will compete in the UIL Cross-Country State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Girls 2A will run at 9:40 a.m. and Boys 2A will run at 10:10 a.m.
