OZONA FALLS TO HARPER

The JV went to Harper ready to play even though they knew that they were down two players on a team that only had 15 on the roster. The team had guys that were ready to step up and fill in in positions that they were unfamiliar with. The game started off really well offensively for the Lions as they scored the first touchdown. The defense followed the touchdown with a great stand. The offense went back on the march to score again, however a slick ball from the rain and inexperience caught up to Lion offense as their next drive was stalled to mishandled snaps. The Lions fought really hard throughout the rest of the 2nd quarter. Coming out of halftime, the Longhorns took advantage and scored quickly to make spread the game wide open. Going into the 4th quarter, another injury had the Lions squandering to fill positions. The remaining players stepped up to the challenge and played in spots that were completely new to them. The coaches were really proud of how the Lions finished the game despite the weather and injuries. Their next game will be Sept. 10, in Big Lake. The final score was 6-36.
