The 8th Grade Lions fought a hard fought game and secured a 12-6 victory over the Owls of Big Lake. The Defense led the way for the victory coming up with two big stops in the 4th quarter. Defense was a swarming style with many young Lions getting in on the action. Ryan Hurst, Hudson Fowler, Michael Daniels, Corey Ybarra, and Trystin Timms all turned in an excellent defensive performance. Timms recovered an onside kick with less than two minutes left in the game which allowed the Lions to run out the clock for the victory. The offense was sparked by Daniels the second half which aided in securing the win. The Lions will travel to Menard on Sept 17th to square off against the Yellow Jackets in a combined game with the 7th grade Lions. Game time is 5 p.m. The coaches were very pleased with the effort, but more important the focus the young Lions showed in their first game of the year.
