The young Lions took a short road trip to visit the Yellow Jackets of Menard on Thursday, Sept 17, 2020. The game was a combined 7/8 grade and the Lions were victorious 36-16 behind many scoring drives and an 8th grade defense that was stifling and a 7th grade defense that is learning. The Lions scored behind the runs of Ryan Hurst (3 TDs, Michael Daniels (1 TDs), and Tino Castillo (1 TD). Hurst and Daniels each scoring two with Daniels returning a kick off for a touchdown. The last touchdown came with 6 seconds left in the game when William Webb was stopped short of the goal line and had the presence to lateral the ball back to Castillo who ran into the end zone. The 8th grade watched their younger counterparts play the entire second half because of a 30-8 lead. Coaches were appreciative of the 8th grade support during this time. The 7th and 8th grade Lions will travel to Brady Thursday, Sept 25 (two games starting at 5 p.m.) to face a tough opponent –the Brady Bulldogs. The Lions will need and will appreciate the support of the cheerleaders, fans, and parents.
