OMS 8TH BOYS HARD FOUGHT LOSS TO TIGERS
The score only shows the final buzzer thought—a Lion loss to the Tigers of Brackettville. What is not reflected in the score is the effort, believe, never give up attitude the young Lions showed during this battle when the score was 18-6 in favor of the Tigers. The coaches shared these thoughts at half time—never give up, believe, fight every step, trust in your teammates and play each play hard even when the results is not what you were wanting-the tone used by the coaches was the other impressive take away from this game. I have learned many years ago as a younger coach that “Things are not as bad as they seem or as good as they seem—it is somewhere in between.” With this attitude the Lions came out and fought to a 20-18 lead with less than two minutes to play in the game. To attain this comeback, the defense led the way with superb play by Ryan Hurst, Michael Daniels, Kurt Bean and others. Daniels ignited the turn around on a fumble takeaway for touchdown that covered 60 yards. The offense converted crucial 3rd and 4th down pass plays from Hudson Fowler to Andres’s Quiros, Kurt Bean, Roger Capetillo with Daniels taking a slant pass to the house from 60 yards. In the end the Lions may have lost the game, but the life lessons that they fought for is far more important. Coach Cruz, Coach Lester, and Coach Taylor appreciate the effort that was shown last night. The Lions will now face the Harper Longhorns Thursday, October 22 at Lion Stadium. Come out and Support the Lions!!!
