It's time to recognize the top high school football performances in West Texas for Week 8 of the 2020 season. Take a moment to vote in the Standard-Times Football Player of the Week poll: • David Barajas, Eldorado: The senior linebacker finished with 17 tackles, two quarterback sacks and four tackles for loss in the Eagles’ 35-12 win over Rocksprings • Malachi Brown, San Angelo Central: The senior quarterback tied a school record with five TD passes, finished with 340 yards on 19-of-26 passing and rushed for 55 yards in the Bobcats’ 53-32 win over Abilene High • Ivan Escamilla, Robert Lee: The junior running back/cornerback scored four rushing TDs — including the game winner — and had a 79-yard kickoff return for a TD as well as seven tackles in the Steers’ 43-42 come-from-behind win over Bronte Isaiah Gonzales, Junction: The junior running back/defensive back had 14 tackles, two forced fumbles, three interceptions, including pick-sixes of 50 and 80 yards, had 64 returns yards and 36 yards rushing in the Eagles' 33-6 win over Miles • Hunter O’Banon, Sonora: The sophomore running back carried 15 times for 245 yards and three TDs and caught a 14-yard TD pass in the Broncos' 44-13 win over Brady Corbin Rosales, Coleman: The senior quarterback carried 10 times for 109 yards, and he completed 8 of 13 passes for 120 yards and three TDs in the Bluecats’ 28-7 win over Goldthwaite • Jesse Vega, Ozona: The senior quarterback completed 4 of 8 passes for 118 yards and a TD, and he carried eight times for 114 yards and two TDs in the Lions’ 40-0 win over Brackett • Gage Watson, Mason: The senior wide receiver caught all five passes in his direction for a total of 113 yards and scored two TDs in Mason’s 55-6 win over Johnson City
