TOP 5 HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES TO WATCH IN WEST TEXAS IN WEEK 11
3. Johnson City at Ozona
7:30 p.m. Friday
Lion Stadium, Ozona
The 14-2A DI game was postponed by Johnson City from the beginning of the district schedule to the end due to positive COVID-19 results. Instead of meeting when the teams were both 0-0, they're now meeting with 3-1 district records. The Lions are coming off a 27-13 loss to Mason at home and fell to 6-3 overall. The Eagles are coming off a 39-14 win over Harper last week to improve to 4-5. Johnson City beat Brackett (25-8) and got a forfeit win over Center Point but fell 55-6 to Mason. Ozona beat Brackett 40-0, Center Point 36-0 and Harper 55-20. The Lions will have to forget the tough loss to Mason and readjust quickly to an entirely different offensive style with the Eagles. Johnson City averages 65 rushing yards a game and 141 passing. Ozona puts up 286 total yards a game (169 rush/117 pass). The Lions have outscored their opponents 29-16 while the Eagles average just 16 points per game but give up 27. The second-place team in this district will meet the third-place team in 13-2A DI in the first round of the playoffs.
The pick: Ozona 24, Johnson City 12
