Marco Rodriguez threw a shutout to lead Ozona Lions Varsity past Ingram Moore 19-0 on Tuesday.
Ozona Lions Varsity secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the fourth inning. Jesse Vega, Robert Barrera, Matt Daniels, Rodriguez, Lane Smith, and Arlie Hernandez all drove in runs in the frame.
In the first inning, Ozona Lions Varsity got their offense started. Vega drew a walk, scoring one run.
Ozona Lions Varsity scored 11 runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Ozona Lions Varsity was led by Vega, Barrera, Daniels, Rodriguez, Smith, and Hernandez, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
One bright spot for Ingram Moore was a single by K Carrington in the fourth inning.
Rodriguez was on the hill for Ozona Lions Varsity. The righty went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out nine.
Carrington started the game for Ingram Moore. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. T Portenier and J Honea entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.
Ozona Lions Varsity tallied 16 hits. Barrera, Aulton Lira, Rodriguez, Daniels, and Vega all managed multiple hits for Ozona Lions Varsity. Vega, Daniels, Rodriguez, Lira, and Barrera each collected two hits to lead Ozona Lions Varsity. Ethan Criswell led Ozona Lions Varsity with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 20 stolen bases. Ozona Lions Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Juan Vega had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
