HARPER RUNS AWAY WITH EARLY LEAD IN VICTORY
Ozona Lions Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-3 loss to Harper on Tuesday. Harper took the lead on a double in the first inning.
The Ozona Lions Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Harper, giving up 11 runs.
In the first inning, Harper got their offense started when Colton Porter doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Harper scored six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Harper came thanks to singles by Dalton Brown, Ethan Crawford, and Zane Schubert, a groundout by Gray Porter, and a double by Jackson Davis.
Bryson Lake was on the mound for Harper. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out five and walking zero.
Lane Smith was on the hill for Ozona Lions Varsity. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out three. Logan Fay and Aulton Lira entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.
Ozona Lions Varsity racked up ten hits. Fay, Jesse Vega, and Marco Rodriguez each collected multiple hits for Ozona Lions Varsity. Fay went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Ozona Lions Varsity in hits.
Harper collected 18 hits on the day. Schubert, Brown, Davis, Porter, Crawford, and Lake all collected multiple hits for Harper. Schubert led Harper with four hits in four at bats. Harper stole 12 bases during the game as five players stole more than one. Brown led the way with two.
