Our Lions and Lady Lions in all divisions competed in a large and competitive Crane XC meet. 26 teams, and 721 runners competed from 1A-6A. This is an absolutely outstanding showcase of talent in the area. Our kids competed with toughness and disciple that represented Ozona well. They came from a late night representing our schools band, cheer squad and football teams in Wink last night, and our varsity girls finished as the 3rd place team (out of 14, in a 1-5A division) with two medalists Cameran Ochoa and Ysabella Esparza. This is a huge accomplishment for these ladies. Many set personal bests and improved times from last week. Boys finished 7th place as a team, and Corey Ybarra finished in the top 5, 5th place, losing only to Andrews, Midland Legacy, and Odessa teams. Our boys were pretty fatigued from their night before so I am confident they will all improve significantly in the next few weeks- however I don’t want to take away from them bc their division was loaded with 4-6A schools. As a unit, our boys team is incredibly strong and they are crushing time goals we set for the end of the season. We ran JV with the varsity division and had outstanding showings out of our JV kids as well, continuing to crush their time goals and mental goals. Please congratulate these kids on how well they rose to the challenge. I knew this week would be hard after the Wink game, but they handled it so well. The discipline and commitment it takes to even get out of bed at 5:30 after playing in an away game is admirable. Our next meet for all divisions is next Saturday 9/10 at HOME. Come out and watch these kids in action. Elementary run starts at 8:30am, and HS kicks off at 9am. --Coach Laura Taylor
